You're looking at the newest student in the PhD in Science Education Research program at George Mason University!
I spent the last 7 years trying to talk myself out of getting a Ph.D. I mean, did I really need to do this? I already had a successful career in the forensic science industry and was 7 years into a successful career in academia as a professor. And then this year, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I couldn’t stop thinking about all that I could learn and the impact I could make if I pursued a Ph.D. So I spent the last six months preparing myself to apply. I had to retake the GRE because it had been 14 years since I had last taken it and my scores had expired 🤦🏽♀️ but despite all of that, I got through the application process and I got in 🙌🏽.
Shoutout to my family for supporting this crazy dream of mine, my STEMNoire crew for coming through with the interview tips, and Dr. Malika Grayson for the last minute personal statement review 🙌🏽. Now the real hard work begins 💪🏽!
